ABSTRACT:
Concept of modernization of basic observation network in Croatian hydrometeorological service (from 1996, updated in 2000) is focused on main meteorological stations with main reasons: increased demand for real time data and their applications. Basis of modernization is implementation of automatic weather systems with continuous data record and real time data transfer but without automatic suspension of human observers. Croatian hydrometeorological service had in 1992., in cooperation with Croatian manufacturer of automatic meteorological measuring systems launched operational work of automatic weather stations (AWS) network which today contains more than 75 measuring systems. This article gives a overview of present status in AWS network and software support for measurements, data transfer and verification and displays of measured data for different purposes and end users.
